@bubba37 It wasn't always the case that a confirm was needed for a level 1 to accept, but OPs were accepting poor and unformatted answers. They still do, it's not a perfect system.

a level 1 user cannot accept an answer without a confirm.
@NinNin points out another way answering new questions is discouraged by the current rules
I hope these rules will be adjusted to encourage answering them instead.

@BatterMaker you could probably answer many more questions on the front page than just the ones you already know the answer to after searching for a bit. Answering years old threads is the best way to earn points, but it doesn't help the questioners, who probably forgot about their questions long ago.

This is a pointless discussion. To whom does anyone need to defend which questions they chose to answer? Most of the questions I answer, if@bubba37 hasn't beaten me to it, are new. But, man, am I tired of users who flood the front pages with question after question. It's not unlike spamming. Does one really need to post 20 questions in an hour? A lot of them ask questions like a set of demands, and they don't even bother to accept answers.

All that we're talking about here wouldn't be an issue if more users confirmed off the confirm thread and more OPs accepted answers. Remember a level 1 user cannot accept an answer without a confirm.

I'd also like to add that the majority of newest open questions that I know the answers to have already been answered by other users. I go through about the first 10 pages usually daily before I head to the back.

There's also many times that someone answers a new unsolved post while I'm looking for related proof in the 5-10 minutes between opening a post and answering it (and realizing it after I click submit).

If you compare times of posting the question and of posting the answer of the three threads you mentioned, you will see that@hlenhart answered them when they were 4,2 and 1 years old respectively.

If you want to see another example look at@potro , the top points scorer. At the current time (5:35 EST 06/16/22), of his last 10 answers, 8 are for 6 year old treads, 1 is 7 years old, and 1 is 2 years old.

@BatterMaker the 2nd top scorer: of the last 5 answers, 4 are for 6 year old questions, 1 is 7 year old.

They are rationally following the optimal strategy for scoring the most points. It's just not fulfilling questioners' needs for solvers to solver 6 years old questions.

It's 5:15pm EST on a Thursday. I looked at the latest 20 comments displayed on the front page, of these, 16 are answers. 8 are answers to questions posted during the last day. 8 are answering questions more than a month old, of these 5 are more than a year old.

At the same time, I looked through the questions at the bottom of the front page. I counted 7 answered ones (I didn't check if they were correct or not) and 16 without any answer.

Conclusion: half of the solver effort is going to answer old questions, while majority of new questions go unsolved
This is bad for serving questioners' needs.

You're welcome to do a random sample at some other time and report your results.

I've never had an issue getting newer posts answered from users chasing big points. I don't think many would "ignore" a new post if they knew the answer, but they likely wouldn't spend tons amount of time to find an answer if they didn't know it, which is reasonable. But again, if there's a new post and they know the answer, they will answer it for no other reason but to keep the solved ratio high.

@bubba37 my average is probably over 1000 per answer as well, but I always check the front page too. Part of the reason I'm getting high amounts of points is I have knowledge of different porn. Most of the front page stuff is quite recent, and some tends to be camgirls, which I have no knowledge about. Also, if you remove the ever increasing points value for old question you are doing the opposite of incentivizing people to answer old questions and close them out.

Also, it only takes a few weeks for a front page question to jump from 25 points to 40 and then continue growing. I have numerous front page answers waiting on confirms that will probably grow into more points simply cause people aren't confirming those answers.

That brings up another problem, WHEN did@hlenhart answer those questions? I have answers that still have yet to be marked correct going back 5 years. I might have even answered those questions when they were front page at the time. 5 years means lots of points too. See the below answers from@hlenhart , last modified YEARS ago, not recently answered, but only marked correct in the last couple days.

You need to have more data to back up the theory that a user is ONLY answering old high points questions.

Large points rewards for old questions incentivize solvers to ignore new ones.

The point rewards for answering old questions are almost 80 times higher than for answering new ones. So any solver that cares about points will ignore the new questions page and instead solve several years old inquiries. Many of them are difficult, but many of them just weren't looked at when they were posted and are comparatively easy. That makes looking at only ancient threads the most efficient way to gain points, but it's bad for the site since it doesn't serve the needs of the questioners. Does the questioner really care if somebody solved a 7 years old question? He probably already forgot about it. While, at the same time, many new questions don't attract any eyeballs. It would be better if the solvers' efforts were directed toward the new questions page.

He only answers old questions, gets confirms and then gets the answer marked correct by auto_moderator. As a result, he gets an average of a 1000 points for each answer. Pretty smart. But does it solve the needs of the users any?

Suggested solutions:
1. Remove the big points section from the homepage
2. Cap the maximum points allowed per answer at a low multiple of the staring 25 points. Maybe 150?

I would like to suggest that you create a new category on our profile, only with our questions not yet resolved/solved. Sometimes we have questions that we don't even remember, that are still open, so we can easily add more information.

@Madmax99 you only get points if an answer was marked correct by the original poster, a moderator, or auto_moderator.

A question about points system.....
I answered some questions with extra points and they got confirmed to be right but I didn't receive the points....can someone explain that?

@colapsfornudes The workaround for your post issue is to first post a name in tags, then edit your answer to include the rest of the info. But I think you need to be at level 4 to edit posts. This has happened before and it usually resolves itself but who knows now with nearly non-existent admin support.

Chaturbate and linktr.ee were banned a few months ago, so there's someone operating this site, just probably doing the bare minimum.

Just separate the url like chaturbate .com or use chaturbate(dot)com.
