Yes, I trust the admins. They take their time to clean up the nonsense and have kept this site afloat for a long time. I've been around for 9 years, seen a lot of changes, but they've always held it together. I lost my temper on a previous post in this threath for kinda logical reason, but i trust them.

Exactly and having a system that allows users to gain mod-like powers or mark answers as correct would be the number one loophole.

I mean, I don't trust you — you're new to me. I see you've been a member for 7 years, but your activity is minimal compared to others and just started to be more active a month ago.

@soytupapiperra It could be 3M points or whatever, could be some other criteria... I just used 1M as an example. AND as I said, there would need to be an additional verification step of some kind. Or, a vote. There are a few users on here who have been SUPER helpful and generous with their time. I would trust them if they said "Yes, this answer is correct." because I know that they took the time to review it instead of just rubber stamping it.

I mean, do you trust the admins of this board?? You know nothing about them. The other mods?? You know nothing about them, I don't know you, you don't know me. On some level, there could be a system that works better than the "auto mod" which isn't cutting it rn.

BTW, I am with you on confirming things. I spend time to actually confirm everything I mark as CONFIRMED. Maybe there should be a rate imposed for that or some kind of throttling like with other things on here.

When it comes down to it, there could be 100s of rules and some people would still find loopholes or ways around the rules... There has to be a balance between efficiency, effectiveness, and "safety".

@harold I'm strongly against it. Giving the power to mark a post as correct to just anyone is one of the worst decisions you could make all because they hit 1 million points? Nah, man. There are plenty of users who confirm 30–50 posts in under an hour, while it takes me 20–30 minutes just to properly verify 10. That’s going to create more problems than it solves.

@EphraimGadsby Having been an admin and mod on various boards (BBSes) and sites going back to the 80s, I disagree. Are there high-level people who suck? Sure. For the most part though, I think people are trustworthy, especially after they have been around a while.

Perhaps a more refined approach would be that a certain level makes you ELIGIBLE to become a moderator but there would still be a vetting process by the other mods and Admins of the site. I am talking like 1M points or something like that. It would likely be a great solution based on my experience over the last 40 years...

Having a solution where high-level people are able to bless answers as CORRECT would be a capability, not an obligation. E.g. if I hit 1M points, maybe I earn the ability to mark things correct but I am not obligated to do anything.

I see some answers that are so awesome that only a complete imbecile would argue that they are incorrect; i.e. lots of proof, thumbnails, links, etc. They are so obviously CORRECT, I would mark them as such. I mean, the OP for each request already has this power (mark answers correct for their own posts). Why not someone who has been on the site for a LONG time and has a lot of experience?

I myself couldn't care less about points or levels apart from earning additional capabilities... whatever those are. It isn't clear what you get after Level 5, if anything. I can certainly see how someone at Level 5 or above who is unscrupulous might just run down the list of Confirm Requests and mark them all as CONFIRMED (without even looking at them) just to get the points.

I think the leader board is a horrible idea. The minute you introduce competition, then the risk of sheisty behavior increases exponentially.

Yes, I am have been resubmitting my confirm requests. However, that is only part of the problem, as you have also pointed out. I have like 20-30k worth of high bounty posts sitting there waiting for the "auto_moderator" to get back from vacation (or whatever tf it is doing or not doing) so that they can be marked as CORRECT.

Yes, I have learned my lesson on responding to posts that are not strictly speaking porn. For one of the posts that I am stuck with, I just marked it as a favorite. The post is from a year ago:

The other post I am stuck with, I favorited and followed it:

#1730278 - What's her name?

I answered this one by pointing out that it appears the female in the picture was photographed without her knowledge or consent and that she looks like a "civilian" (non-porn). I suggested that maybe it should be removed. In retrospect, I should have just flagged it.

And, yes, the features for organizing posts on here are essentially non-existent. So, I bookmark things in my browser instead of marking them as favorites or following them.

I am also starting to flag posts that are unsolvable. E.g. it seems like PH has been deleting / disabling a LOT of videos lately. Way more than XV or XH. It's odd because I will see a thumbnail in the sidebar here on NTP that looks interesting, but when I click it, the post has a video that is no longer available. Why not at least show the thumbnail on the actual post?

Anyway, keep up the good work, my friend. Your advice and opinions are valuable.

The problem, as I'm sure you're aware of, is that for some people on the site, there seems to be an obsession with accumulating points for their own sake.
Rules are broken, answers are stolen, people confirm answers where no proof is provided, people confirm when the OPs original question has been ignored in the answer.

I have to say that your idea of allowing high level users to mark posts as correct would likely be a disaster.
I suspect very few people take the time to actually review an answer before confirming as it just takes too long.
If you check someones posts who submits 30 answers (all different), it's going to take you at least an hour minimum to check them properly, & most people haven't got the time, or, the inclination to do so.

Always make sure to keep resubmitting your answers to the Confirm Thread if they don't get picked up the first time.

The auto-moderator does have its faults/blind spots.
I have an answer (from someone else) that I have been trying to get confirmed for ages, which had 26 confirms at the last check, but it's obvious the auto-mod isn't going to pick it up. I've also got two of my own answers (featuring the same lady) which are now in double figures for confirms & again aren't looking likely to get picked up.

Finally, regarding the disabled posts.
Make sure the posts you're favouring/following are porn only.
This is another problem, people answering a question & starting off by saying 'Not a porn star.'
This is a site for porn only.
No woman who doesn't appear at least topless is suitable for the site.
Even if a person has appeared nude, say, an actress in a mainstream movie, it shouldn't be posted on here.
If you have any doubts at all save the post off site, the bookmarks bar, or a folder.

Is there any level at which an individual is able to simply mark an answer as CORRECT? One would think that if a person is like over Level 100 or has 1M points, they would be trustworthy enough to mark answers as CORRECT instead of just confirming them. Might be a good solution to consider to address the significant delay that I am seeing in getting answers marked CORRECT.

Hi, SW Dev for 40 years here... can someone please explain what this so-called "auto_moderator" is supposed to do? When does it run? What criteria is it looking for? How many confirms does it need? How old does the answer post need to be in order to be closed out as CORRECT? What limits does it have (if any) on how many posts it marks correct / hour, / day, etc?

I have answers with 4+ confirms that have been sitting there for almost two weeks and still, not marked as CORRECT; i.e. no points.

...or, anyone for that matter. I can understand if the first answer wasn't formatted properly or maybe the person didn't post it to the confirm thread, which may not have even existed when they posted the correct answer.

However, I have been focusing on helping with confirms lately and when I click on some and go to the post, I am like "WTF?? There was already a CORRECT answer posted 3 years ago that didn't get any confirms and wasn't marked as correct by the auto mod or the OP. Now what? Which answer should I confirm, the recent one or the original one?"

Another thing about the confirm thread that is annoying for a relatively low level user like me is I might post 3-4 answers in a single post asking for confirms and then 5-6 other people will slam 3 posts each with 10 requests each in there after mine which pushes my meager requests out to like page 50...

Perhaps a better solution for a confirm type thread would be one that is auto-populated somehow. E.g. when you think you know the answer to a request, you post it (vs. a comment) and it is added to the confirm thread automagically. Then, people can surf down the list of recently answered items that are waiting to be confirmed and each answer is treated the same.

I have answers that are days and even weeks old with many confirms and I still haven't received the blessing of a "correct" from the OP or auto mod. It's very discouraging.

Another unrelated issue, there are two posts that I followed and favorited because I provided answers to them. Then, the staff decided to "disable" the posts for whatever reason. And now, I am stuck with those two posts in my favorites and following list that say "This content is temporarily unavailable." I can't unfollow or unfavorite the posts. If there is something that is questionable or whatever, just delete it, don't mark it as "temporarily unavailable" when you know you have no intention of restoring it at any point.

What I do know is that I like this site a lot in principle; getting help to answer my questions, helping others answer theirs, etc. and I appreciate the effort that goes into operating it. I just wish there was a more immediate and fair path to being rewarded when putting in the time and effort to answer things correctly.

As I said before, I genuinely had no idea until just before I posted that it was possible to circumvent the 3 posts per day rule.

I agree with you about users limiting their posts to 30, but I got the idea from your reply that it was something you were fully aware of & were happy to turn a blind eye to.
Regarding my interpretation that you were annoyed, if I read it wrong, I apologise.

You & I both know that if the Confirm Thread is suspended there wouldn't be much point in continuing the site.

I've said before, I think, that I know very little about computers, but if it is possible to allocate minus points for confirming a wrong answer, refusing to accept an answer, etc, why can't something of the sort be used for people who break the rules? I believe this would bring the rule breakers in to line.

I wasn't aware the thread could be abused.
I've inadvertently attempted to post more than three times in the past & I was prevented from doing so, so there's obviously a check in place.
I only became aware that it could be circumvented yesterday just before I posted here, as I remembered delgadof had posted a few hours earlier.
There was a battle going on for top spot (monthly) at the time & afterwards I noticed his rival, mbvalentsage had done the same thing.
I've never been aware of it before.
You seem annoyed that I've brought this up, but what's the point of having rules if people break them with impunity?

User, Delgadof, submitted 3 posts of 30 answers about 7 hours ago. These have now been deleted & he has just submitted 3 more posts of 30 answers.
How & why is this allowed?

Seven days ago, I received notification that my answer was marked as correct and I was given the extra bounty that had been offered.

However, the answer was NOT being shown as correct in the post. So...

Five days ago, I posted a request in the Confirm thread, requesting that people confirm it, which several people had done: @EphraimGadsby, @dowggggggg, @sexrino, etc.

As of yesterday, I received notification that it was finally marked as answered... by someone else!!! MY answer is gone and some other user named CrazyIvan is credited with the answer. In fact, my comment is completely gone now. I have a screenshot proving that I commented on it and that I was awarded the points:



Can someone kindly tell me why my comment was deleted after devoting hours of FREE time researching an answer to that post? Did I do something wrong? How is it possible for someone to literally delete my answer and post their own?

1-I don't go after high point reward posts. If I see one on the first few pages and it catches my interest, I try to find out who the person is — even if the post doesn't offer many points. And if someone else already answered it, I'll usually help them tag it correctly.

2-The point of having "high level" accounts is for special situations — like when some sick person posts CP. A few reports from these accounts can trigger the auto_moderator to take it down quickly, preventing it from getting many views and stopping the site from getting nuked.

3-Another reason I suspected a lack of staff was the slowdown in this thread

At first, there was a lot of activity, but it died off quickly. I was active there too, but I stopped participating when the mods didn't engage with it.

Before the auto moderator accepts a question for a video with an answer without a video link. We know someone will come along and write a comment. Where is the play video link? Is the full video only that many minutes long? How about a full 1 hour and 9 minute video?

@soytupapiperra I'm with you on the site needing more "staff", that's obvious, but how do you select them... You mentioned "high level".... I've only been here a month and I'm 30 levels above you.... then you have extra high level (232)@DoyenLebowski1950 who can't even post in the right area..... you see where I'm going....

The site has basically no adds, tries to comply with legal restrictions no cp/revenge/copyright infractions. I believe it was started with the best intentions. The admins could have simply added a "no robots" to the page, they left it open to crawlers, which holds some weight on the transparency scale imo
