I would like to request that instead of displaying "2 years ago" or "12 hours ago" etc. that you simply display the timestamp.
Further, add a setting that allows people to choose the format they wish to see for date / time and maybe all times are simply UTC. (Or, bonus points for having a second setting indicating timezone and displaying the timestamp according to the user's preference.)
E.g. The OP for this thread might say:
"edited 07/15/2023 15:30" (with UTC implied)
"edited 07/15/2023 15:30 UTC"
"edited 07/15/2023 10:30 EDT"
etc.
instead of simply:

Sufficient answer indicates that no one's doing any more research that will specifically meet the minimum asks of the question, unless they voluntarily choose to redo what has already been done. The issue arises that a later answer can be confirmed despite a prior answer already crossing the minimum threshold to be accepted, held back only by an OP that has gone inactive or refuses to tend to their open questions.
There will be higher quality answers and more minimalist ones, but both can be objectively correct. There is merit in speed on this site, but there are inconsistencies where timeliness of answer is superceded by addition of superfluous content that the question can be reliably verified without.

@RB29 While you call the information "superfluous" it has a purpose, to make confirmation easier. You are A LOT less likely to get confirmations when others have to REsearch your answer, basically putting in the same time/effort you did. It clearly states that in the n00b guide.

It is of course up to you, but if you don't use the confirm thread, particularly for older answers, other users will come along & instead of confirming your answer, will just steal it, put it on the confirm thread & their confirming buddies will confirm their answer.

I have plenty of confirmed answers without ever touching the confirm thread. Point remains, there is no reason why an answer that adds superfluous content to an already sufficient answer shouldn't just be a comment, much less chosen as the correct answer years after the legwork has been done. Adding a generic fapello link and unrelated embedded images of said pornstar should not make an answer more valid than an old one, despite being more visually intrusive.

I've had incidents in the past where I answered a post with the minimum of what was asked, OP vanishes and never confirms, and years later someone just piggybacks off the answer, spruces it up with some extra links and pictures that no one really asked for, and since it's the newest answer that looks nice it gets confirmed and marked as correct. I don't really care about the points all that much, but it's still kind of absurd that a perfectly fine answer is somehow considered less valid than the same answer + the first 3 google search links and a picture copy-pasted underneath. If the post asks for a name and it's easily searchable with no ambiguation, then sometimes I'll just give the name. Why should someone else just putting the name I found into a search engine years later and regurgitating the results be confirmed?

I understand people want to contribute and earn points, but the goal should be to provide accurate and relevant information.
@Yoni Thanks for taking the time to provide some kind of response. I have no idea who the "staff" are here because they are either asleep at the wheel or they just don't gaf or whatever.
I disagree with you on your approach to providing information. E.g. the photographer. There instances where discovering the name of the talent is just not possible. That doesn't negate the value of all the other information associated with the request. The form forces people to select a type of question, which is an ill-conceived approach. Why do people ask for a name? What is the intent? (HINT: to find more content, usually, or to label the content that they have.) To that end, some information is better than nothing, especially when some of these requests have been sitting there for YEARS. Maybe there should be some logic implemented on the site that if a request isn't answered or even commented on for a year or two or whatever, it is automatically targeted for deletion. There are SO many stale requests with broken links on here... it's sad.
FYI, I had heard from Don (indirectly) that there is or was an issue with the Auto_moderator having something to do with manually assigned bounties and that's why it hasn't been marking things as correct.
I could tell you about my 40 years as a SWDEV with over 35 years in webdev... 25 years ago, my team and I built the neural network models and scoring engine that most banks use still to this day to detect fraudulent transactions, processing millions of transactions / day. When there is a hit, it is always kicked over to a real person to validate.
That's what is needed here, more trusted moderators who are interested in helping who can have the final say on what is CORRECT. Machines cannot effectively validate things like a human can. In the end, there need to be more moderators here, not an algorithm that leaves "thousands of answers" sitting there waiting.

If they aren't (process or code) then I am going to call it out, not just pretend it's MY impatience that is the issue.
I first visited this site about 9-10 years ago because I had a few questions about some IDs. The tools back then were not as robust or accessible as they are today.
I thought that this would be a board with a bunch of experts who could simply look at a pic or video and know the source / information. Seven years ago I created an account thinking that maybe if I have an account people would pay more attention to my questions. Instead, I ended up answering my own requests over time by researching them myself.
Your post has helped me to realize that I don't think this site is really for me. I don't need someone else to use reverse image search for me or other methods of researching for my own questions.
And, as far as answering other people's questions, it would be better to teach them how to search for themselves; although, there will still be people too lazy or too stupid to help themselves, I reckon.
I think the points idea had good intentions. It inspires people to spend some time on those. However, in the end, the implementation is flawed.
For one thing, what is the "why" for pursuing additional levels? Points = higher level but do higher levels lead to? Beyond Level 5, no one has been able to tell me what the benefits are.
In fact, there is a wholesale lack of simple information here, like how many points you need for each level, what the levels can do, etc. Gamifying things can lead to increased engagement. It also inevitably leads to shenanigans. So, you have a bunch of renegades exploiting loopholes in the system just to level up and, for what? Because they can.
I won't rage quit. Instead, I am going to leave my answers out there and if they get scored, fine. If not, fine. If my account gets deleted or suspended because the staff doesn't like me pointing out the issues, fine. I am kinda done trying to help when it isn't appreciated and being ignored when I point out issues.
