@herkalurk We are not disagreeing with anything you say. We understand the faults of our system, that's why we are revamping the entire moderation process. There will be a more clear set of guidelines with the new system. The current one is somewhere in-between the old and the new. Moderators will be phased out once users will get the ability to vote answers as incomplete.

However, I'm afraid the subjectivity won't go anywhere as there's always going to be different interpretations of the guidelines, doesn't matter if it's by other users or moderators, as the perceived difficulty of the questions varies a lot. Question with well-known performers needs considerably less "proof" than one with less known performers. And what someone considers an "easy" answer might be a difficult for someone else etc.

The current set of moderators are essentially beta testers for the new system, not paid professionals. They simulate and help us design how voting for answers will work in the future, on a smaller scale. Moderators only have a set of guidelines on what to decline/accept. They are not instructed to review only older questions etc. They are simply acting in the same way regular users would be to help us work out a way to implement fully user based moderation.

I overturned the moderators decision made here, since you asked us to take a second look.

That being said, this conversation is dragging out too much for this thread. But feel free to PM me directly, if you have more concerns or feedback for us.

@Anxiousexy The flagging system gets backed up from time to time. If there are urgent requests such as CP, you can PM me or@Operator directly.

@NinNin Improved is subjective and that is the issue. The mods aren't all on the same page. We need to have objective rules and consistency, not subjectivity. Whether or not a the provided name for a performer question is correct is objective, the requirements of what is in the answer is subjective. Right now the requirements seem to be changing and we need the definition to be decided instead of in flux.

What I want is hands off from the mods on some of this. The mod decided for the community my answer didn't have enough info only a couple hours after I had answered, which means it never even got a chance to be confirmed. If they are going to judge responses before everyone else, then this is no longer a community.

Ideally the moderator should be worried about making sure answers picked are in fact correct, or comply to what was requested (looking for a video, naming, etc). Also to mark answers correct that have been sitting for months waiting. This site has so many members and so many questions/answers/etc that to start looking through each one wouldn't be helpful. The backlog of work would grow faster than it could be completed.

Take for example one of your own answers. Been sitting for 2 years. If mod was focused on getting posts completed, this would have already been marked correct.

We're getting inflated points values because questions are taking too long to get completed. I have numerous questions I answered the first day they were posted, but because they only got 2 votes of confidence, they've just sat.
#965039
@herkalurk The answer looks correct to me, and "mod" is admin as in@Operator or@Don ; otherwise it will say solved by "moderator". So@Don most likely accepted the answer, as well as this one:

The other two that you brought to his attention are open to confirms again, which is what you wanted, right? Hopefully, you'll get the confirms you need and, if not, you'll understand that your answer needs to be improved.
#965002
@Operator why is mod selecting answers on new threads? We should let the auto-mod do that, or let the OP. Mod should be worrying about questions that are months old that haven't been completed but do have answers. Better question why is mod selecting wrong answers....

Confirmed answer actually has full video, first answer has only teaser clip.

@herkalurk but the title of the post is more relevant. Notes should be used for notes/more info. Anyway this is not my point: I would like to know all the correct formats for reporting/flagging things
#964866
@Anxiousexy To be fair, in the notes it does say the user wanted the actress name or movie name, so by providing the name of the whole film he has complied with the request.

Also, I doubt we'll ever get an answer from the user since this post was created 8 months ago by a user who still only has 40 points. He posted that question and most likely only checked back once and left.
#964856
@Don That response seems too generic, and over used. Take for example the 3 posts I used to start this conversation. One of them was initially marked as not enough info by a mod, then magically a mod marked it as correct 2 days later. I didn't edit anything. This tells me that at least 1 of your mods isn't on the same page as another who marked it correct. It also suggests to me the mod didn't actually read through my answer and made an assumption that it wasn't enough info. Don't get me wrong, there are users that are just confirming answers without actually reading what's there too.

The other issue I'm having with the 'needs additional info' message is that in the past, the amount of info given has been enough, why is this different now? I have 2 posts that I have given answers to. Both ladies identified have already been identified here and have tagged names(which I included). I gave IAFD page and 2nd index site link, but both were denied.

and even though axelcapo did a great job finding the movie and partially answering the question that didn't solve it at all becuse OP was looking for her name, as it was correctly pointed out. I even flagged the question but the flag is still red(supposedly it was ignored or it got lost) and regardless of this particular case I ask myself whether or not I use the correct format for flagging/reporting and if this can result in not getting noticed. So I kindly ask to post somewhere(in an apposite thread, here in evidence or elsewhere) the correct formats for reporting e.g. category mistakes, brutality, child porn, wrong answer, spam etc...
#964754
@herkalurk

"Answer needs additional information/proof to be marked as correct."

So you would need to provide more convincing proof or build a better case for your answer. You can also just edit your answers without adding more proof if you think it's not needed. But it is recommended to add reasoning why you think the proof provided is enough to close to question.

#964438
@Don What wasn't clear about my answers then? There isn't any indication what they think was unclear, just that it isn't accepted. It's hard to fix something if you don't know what's wrong.
#964418
@herkalurk We are moving towards a fully user based moderation, but we are not there yet. At the moment, users can only give positive votes by confirming answers. Without moderators, everybody would have perfect confirm scores and a lot of bad quality answers would pass auto_mod as a result.

I do see where you are coming from and we are working on it to put a more rigid/clear system in place. But for now moderators are instructed to ask for proof if it's not clear if the answer is correct.

It's not required to provide the video info. But the point is to make confirming your answers as easy as possible. Providing DVD/Scene information is usually easiest way to do it with non-mainstream or retro/older content. Another way would be to include an image for visual reference or a link directly to the image(s). From IAFD you can see the head shot, from which you can see the performer is similar, but finding pictures for further verification could be too time consuming for the moderator depending on the content.

Editing your answer will re-enter it to the moderation pool and other users can again confirm it.
#964369
@Don If we are required to find an example of the scene before it will be an 'approved' answer then long term there will be thousands of un answered questions simply because we are being too picky about our answers. I have provided links to the performers IAFD page, which has their headshot. As well as tagged their name, which also has clear images of the performers face and body to show they are the same person. Requiring that we must find the video or images in question on a VOD site, or some other source website will hinder completing many questions. There are many sites that have come and gone from the internet in a years time, however their videos and images remain strewn about the internet, and some show up here. How are we supposed to answer those? The community needs to have a solution to get answers approved even if we can't find this exact scene. As I've mentioned in the past, what is tagging for if we're not going to use it at a source of correlation or proof?

On another note, why is mod running through random answers? Shouldn't the community be policing those and deciding whether or not to confirm the answer, or make comment? I know that myself and many other higher level users have been attempting to guide newer users into the right way to answer with tagging and better answers instead of just writing our own good answer to take the points.
#964264
@herkalurk

Those answers are not marked incorrect, moderator has just asked for additional information, as he was unable to accept your answer based on the proof provided. I don't think that's unreasonable. Adding source scene/DVD info would get these accepted.

@fjoutlook

It's very likely that the majority of confirms are from a time when the video was working and someone added the final confirm needed, without double checking.

Obviously a video should be working at the time it gets accepted and moderators add the "missing video" tag if they come across posts with dead links, but we don't review these answers after they've passed auto_mod, as we don't have a way of verifying if the video was working at the time when the question was answered or accepted. So we assume it was working at some point and moderation lagged behind.
#963524
@Operator @Don we're just not going to discuss my question?
#963393
@fjoutlook It's a two-year-old answer, so it may have outdated confirms. Then there are the more recent confirms, which I believe have more to do with laziness. In that case,@Don can't do a thing. The problem is with your fellow users.
