@Odetomaybe well frankly, we don't know how many people come here and search and finds what they need before even joining. So while the driveby, no rule reading, joiners might seem high the actual number of people who come here and don't do that, but slip by entirely unnoticed, may be vastly higher. No way of knowing.

Sorry if this has been answered somewhere, but how might I search for posts with multiple tags? I've looked everywhere and tried multiple variations but I can only look at one tag at a time.

@Odetomaybe An answer that is only a reference to a previous answer (referred to as a SURL, or "short" url) without tags is generally declined by moderators, with the exception of older answers--at least one year old. There doesn't seem to be a hard and fast rule in regards to this, but an emphasis has been placed on using tags for over a year.

An answer with a link to a profile page is superfluous. It's no better than just a name tag. There's been an emphasis on adding confirm links, as well, to all answers. There may be the rare exception, but the general rule of thumb is not to assume that which is obvious to you is obvious to others.

This has all been discussed in one way or another on this thread. I remember because I was accustomed to using SURL answers for repetitive questions, then became dismayed when they started to be declined. Adding confirm links is just good practice.

@Operator /@Don may want to chime in on this matter.

Yes. SURL answers, which is what that's called, was allowed until about a year or so ago. After some discussion on this thread, those answers began to be declined due to lack of tags. But older answers in that format should be honored.

points are not the point. it's the time you invest answering only to have those post "collect dust". and then some other user gives one extra link and now that obvious answer becomes what? lacking? Can you tell it was her based on the answer i provided? you can! End of story!

i can barely deal with users who only ask and give nothing in return, but now i have to deal with other users who butt-in on the decent answer and for what? Goodness of their heart? Or maybe it's because of the very points you said can't even get you a HJ. Maybe you should tag Prometheus and have him read that.

Your answer was lacking, his wasn't. End of story. If you feel it was unfair then maybe you should put a little less value on the points (they're just internet points, inherently worthless, can't even be redeemed for a handjob in a dingy alley).

o i understand that his answer was taken as a correct one cause he had 2 fanboys who confirmed his and i had none. By that logic i can bump on any old answer and provide just one more extra info link and have 2 of my buddies confirm mine over some other user who waited oo about 3 years to have his answer confirmed. You tell me this is fair and we really have nothing more to talk about.

@Operator The goal should be to not have to have dupes to worry about, therefore fixing the source of the dupes is more important than simply removing them. Removing them requires little work now, but more work in the long run.

@gricnime neither you nor the post you linked to had any information supporting that that answer was the correct one though, no source or anything. So while your answer was technically correct it wasn't backed up, so I can understand why prometheus' answer was taken as the correct one.

@danielusabia3 @NinNin We will be working on the new flag system, it will address these issues. Its gonna be one of the first things we do this year.

@urhen84 the "image" you're trying to link is actually not an image, it's a webpage that ends in .jpg. Pasteboard does that so you have to go to their website to see the image. If you right click the image on that page and copy the image link you'll get something like "blob:http...." which means that they have essentially embedded the image data into the webpage, making it impossible to link to from elsewhere.

In short, use another image host.

When I try to link a photo, this shows up: Something is wrong with grabbing the imagefiles metadata (size), sorry.
The file is from a accepted URL and ends in .jpeg, as required
