The full user-detection module has been re-coded, that means: editing, deleting and voting (mark-as-correct). We learned that if your IP changed, it removed a lot of the basic functionality, even if the user was logged in.

Thank you for notifying us, this would've otherwise been unnoticed.

While the code got a lot of improvements with time, it still was glitchy. But everything should be working now and you should be able to edit and mark-as-correct now, even if your IP changes.

Only thing, that regular users can't do, is to delete their media-posts after 3 days or/and if their posts has a correct answer - this is because there was a trend here, when some of the users got a correct answer they deleted their posts right away, for some weird reason.

A minor change also includes, that anon and registered submitted comments/posts are completely separate now. They were loosely hooked with your IP before. So now you need to log out, if you posted something under anon.

And line-breaks was all thanks to Don ;)

Let us know, if you still see any issues. Your feedback, as demonstrated by this case, is invaluable to us :)

As an afterthought -- and I hoped to add this as an "EDIT" to my previous post, but for some reason the EDIT link did not show up (Not incidentally, the EDIT option is invaluable) -- what do you suppose the outlook may be for making Paragraph Breaks possible? (You know, the equivalent, in HTML, of < br > ?)

Another bugaboo that you may have noticed as well is that the pictures from the listings are more frequently not transferring to the question pages; at least I have been running into this failure to a noticeable extent, lately. For example:

Operator will take a dive into the code of NTP and see if we can fix the problem for you on our end, we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

In regards to semantics, technically yes. But we had to categorize different types of content for our system.

Threads
These are discussions, which can't be solved and are technically separated from the main question system.
Posts/Questions
These are either in a open (unsolved) or solved state (when a comment has been marked as correct answer).

Is the old site dead and gone?
The older version got scrapped for this one. I believe NTP first released right at the beginning of 2013, but the actual conceptualizing and development started in 2012. Current version of NTP is, as you said, approximately 5-6 months old.

Thank you, Sir Don, for looking into the missing MARK AS CORRECT button issue. I did as you suggested, conduct the experiment in a new browser, but after logging in and refreshing my test page, the button still didn't show.

As the Operator wisely pointed out, the button is almost moot, since the response time for corrections is usually speedy; yet it's nice to know the option exists. (If the button shows up.)

Guess I missed the existing thread on asking NTP questions that the Operator has linked to below. Oh, well. Could have saved myself the trouble of cooking up the graphic, above.

By the way, to my knowledge, independent pages are all called "THREADS." So the question pages would also be called threads, wouldn't they? And not "POSTS," as termed here; a post would be an individual comment within a thread. Some antics of semantics.

While original source files are preferred, you can, as an alternative take a screenshot of the ad (cut it out in paint), upload that to an image hosting service, such as http://imgur.com - and then post using the direct url provided there.

i found the ad on pornhub but cant get the gif open on its own any ideas ?

That is strange. I just tested this by posting a question from a non-admin user and everything seems to work as it's suppose to. Also during the last 24h several questioners have been able to mark correct answers in their posts.

This leads me to believe the problem may reside in your browser. Try clearing your browser cache and cookies, if that does not solve the problem - let us know and we will take a second look into it.

Just paste the URL of the gif to our sumbitter at the top of the page. One thing to keep in mind is that your image has to end with a commonly used image extension such as .gif
.
For example:
yoururl.com/something.html - will not work
yoururl.com/something.gif - will work

The little info next to your username in the comments has an anomally. I sometimes flush the cache manually, though it should be automatic..

Gets there when you or our staff marks your answer. We do have the MARK AS CORRECT button. But I think the % of users, who uses them, is low. And our staff gets to a question to verify it, faster then the user.

MARK AS CORRECT button has gone trough most of the bugfixes of NTP's life. We will continue to look into that. If there is any problems with some of the questions/answers. Feel free too always point them out to us. Easiest way is to use the staff thread:

Staff thread. Ask. Suggest. Get info.

The original concept back in 2012, was to make this community 100% user moderated. Sadly, this most likely is not possible. We will include alot of options for the users, so the natural flow of the community would be better. But we will also always have moderators, as this makes sure, that the site actually gives answers to people who are looking for them.

You are absolutely correct, only questioners or the moderator can see the MARK AS CORRECT button. The reason why I mentioned I couldn't see it on the page that I linked is because I happened to be the questioner for that page - but even as a questioner, and even though someone had written a comment, I could see no button.

You (and this is very sad) will never see the MARK AS CORRECT button, because as the man with all of the answers, you will never be asking any questions.

I never saw that "MARK AS CORRECT" button. (Thank you for including the graphic, that was very helpful.) I visited a few pages of my own questions and noticed the button was missing -- so I will suppose the button only makes an appearance in the brief time before the moderator marks the correction.

What do the numbers for the I.D. information signify?

They are in fact intended to stand for the level of the user and the number of points earned (all-time). But as you already guessed, these are not working properly at this point. We are still "officially" in BETA phase in our development and will do our best to iron out most of these glitches for the future versions of NTP.

How do you accept an answer?

It is possible! :) (although severely under-used feature) as Dr_Prex stated, questioners and moderators are able to mark comments as correct answers. Once you receive a comment to your post, the "Mark as correct" button appears to the bottom of the comment (left of the up and down thumbs, illustrated in the picture below)

'Course you wouldn't have firsthand experience about accepting an answer to your question, Dr_PreX, because I don't believe you have ever asked a question. Which makes sense, because you are the man with the answers..!

I think who can accepted the answer is only who gave the question and the MOderator's..,

So.., for me I never do Accepted Answer, cause i not yet make question for it, then i'm not the MOD's.., :D
