Thank you guys for the reply. We believe we figured permanent fix for this, but we will closely monitor the server performance.

Within this week we will do some network changes, that wont directly affect anyone or even get noticed, but it should increase the server response time. Lets hope it works :)

I checked isitdownrightnow when the site was down and it said 24 hours at the time. I checked in the AM and PM and the site was down.

since yesterday for me... the site was very heavy, slow to load, and the next time i tried to enter, nothing happened

since my gmt is probably different then yours, i would say the site was off since around 24h aprox and came back in i dunno maybe 4 or 5 hours ago

i was unable to get on between 6-9pm

I first tried and failed to get on at 8:20am GMT and it came back online some time between 6pm and 10:30pm. Hope that helps :)

So it looks like we were down a bit. Our notification systems failed and while we are expanding our network, it did not make it in time.

Can anyone confirm, how long the site was inaccessible?

We are working on finding ways how to boost performance at the moment and we are also expanding our serverpark to decrease the load.

I am new to this site and i have to say this,ntp is a brilliant work. Thanks for hard working. Yet i need to ask one thing, is there any chance to get the answers ''correct''ed beside having a confirmaton from OP? Like can you make having 2 or more confirmations from none-OP members equal to OP confirmation? So there would be less unsolved questions.

If there is already such a mechanism sorry to bother you. I asked this because i had 3 confirmations on one of my answers yet i didn't get my correct answer points.

I've recently found out, as I've posted them in the confirm thread, some of my answers have disappeared from questions. As far as I can tell, it seems to be restricted to the ones I've edited before posting there.

One issue that's been happening for months is if I leave a page open for a little while, and post info in the text box and hit submit, it just all disappears: the text, the box, and the button—it doesn't actually post to the page. I can press the "Click here to comment" button again, but submitting the same thing keeps happening until I reload the page. Then I am able to submit and post.

I've made it a habit to copy my answer before submitting.

A nice feature would be the ability to block posts by certain users. anon_bcLYV9lRlv4Ps has spammed about 20 of the same thing. not sure if you guys can ban his IP or something. not the first time people have done this type of thing.

Flag spammers. We battle these bastards on daily basis using methods, invented for specific spammer types.

You answered your request with your request. I don't want to support non-standard characters in URL's, as they are not valid URL's.

Confirm the answer, that is most valuable for an user, that might someday be asking/searching for similar answer. Good answers, must have tagged names, reference to confirm answer and maybe some content link. Depending on the questions format. However, generally the best, most accurate answer is always the good way to go. Levels, ranks and fame of the answering user, does not matter -- quality matters.

I don't know about policy but I always confirm the first properly tagged answer. Not tagging or giving evidence is not a proper answer IMO.

This pertains to a comment below about ppl racking up points for confirming any and everything. I suggest doing away with getting a point just for confirming and getting maybe 5 points for a helpful confirm.

There is an online tool for exploding a GIF into separate images http://ezgif.com/split
I use it to do image searches by other frames if searching by the gif itself doesn't yield an answer. EZGif is good for this task, since it will provide a specific frame to a image search engine site by its URL. However, since it saves the frames as (non-animated) gifs, it doesn't work with your site's engine.

But searching your site for non-first frames of a gif would not be useful anyway. The chances that one can obtain an image from a non-related source that exactly matches some frame from a gif is almost nil.
Actually getting useful results from such a search requires a reverse image search engine that can actually find related, but slightly different images from the same source, be it video or photoshoot. Only two RIS sites that I know of are able to do this: TinEye and Yandex. Neither Bing nor Google have solved this problem. So the ability to search by or for a non-key frame of a gif is only useful when using TinEye and Yandex, it wouldn't add much to your site.

Hello, sorry for the inconvenience. We are still in BETA stages. But easy fix is to go to your "All notifications" page and reloading there. That overrides all systems and marks everything read. For you the link is:

Every other image search engine extracts the first frame of a gif and searches/matches the gif using that image.
Your site, if given the first frame of a gif as jpg, will happily find the original gif.
but it's a pain in the ass to extract the the first frame every time.

Please allow reverse image searching by gifs. That would mean that the work that other users had done answering gif questions won't be lost, but can be reused in the future.
There is actually this NAG thing, that stands for New Age GIF. Idea was, that it would split all frames of the GIF and look just like a GIF, but you could manually control the GIF and use each frame for reverse searching. Sadly, nobody but me saw future in it, mostly because of the name.. But I'm working on something even more advance on this matter. If it is fully tested and proven to be better then the normal GIF, we will convert all old posts.. and from that point on, you can deal with GIF's more easily.

Yes, I know this thread. I meant the way I can request ACCEPTANCE of my answers. Like there should be implemented some kind of function, if answer has some (lets say 5) number of confirmations, it automatically marks as accepted answer.
There is a algorithm for that. so yes, there is a system. But it was very BETA, so its very strict and you see it more rarely, then moderator going over the post manually. We will work on hole moderation, confirmation and accepting issue soon. So the general user experience in that matter would be better. Thank you for the feedback.

i think i found a bug of some sort: my level when asking a question is different from my actual level or when i reply to posts
There is a known issue, with the cache system related some places where the level is shown. It is a complete anomaly.. I sadly do not know why it happens, as our server has upgraded with such technology and features, that some stuff conflicts with each other sometimes. I will put this into my task list and go over it again, and hopefully we finally see a solution for that. I'm sorry for the inconveniences. Rest a sure, that your level points are always correct, just on some posts, on some queries the cache is extremely strong and outputs the wrong thing :(

1) fix the video embed. More than half the time it doesn't load the video. I have to use inspect element, get the url, decode it and then see the original video link. At the very least include the video link when embeding a video

2) by far the most important issue: what's the use of having points if you don't do anything with them? I should be able to spent my points on a question (that would pop up more and have a higher chance to be answered than reqular questions)
Hello, thank you for the suggestion. But I need more information. On which videos this issue happens? The thing with embeds is very complex, how we actually render them in front of you. And it would be easier, if you contact me via email at: my username at our sites domain. We can get more technical there and solve the problem. It could be some adblocker, it could be SSL misfire, it could be so many different issues.

The points, lets call them EXP points.. there has already been a plan for them. I cannot speak anymore, as we are still planning things over, but I promise, there will be use for them and they were implemented with a reason :)

Are you serious? This question below was marked correct? The question asks for a NAME and video. There may or may not be a video but the woman in the photo has to have a name. No name OR video was given and it was marked correct. WTF!
Some posts get marked correct automatically, based on some complicated algorithms.. some get accepted my the OP, some get moderated by a moderator, who has to moderated around ~2000 posts per day manually. Moderators are humans, so on behalf of our staff, apologise for any inconveniences. I believe, some moderator has already fixed the issue, looking and the current accepted answer. However, if there is any issue with any post or comment/answer, flag them and we will look into that.

Hi, I have a problem with one thread in my followings, it appears in my notifications and says that it has a new answer, when I click in it, it sends me to a page without content, I continue in the site, but I only have the banner and the left columm and the notification persists.

I don't known what was the thread originally, I want to delete it from my followings, because is very annoying and useless.

What about a new year especial? Like do something like this: give to users a especial prize until 31/1/2016 for those who answer old posts. Answering a post from january (corretly), would give 4,000 points, one from febuary 3,700 points, and from march 3,400 points (for example), so we can get ride of these old 2015 posts :D (Idk how the point system work so you guys will have to look onto that)

Put notification for question creators that they can ACCEPT answers. Right now there is no such information and there are many answered questions that are not marked and ANSWERED. I myself know it is easy to miss as I noticed it late and many of my questions were marked UNANSWERED for long time.
Thank you for the suggestion Vex. Basically that system is built, but there were issues and was not launched. As you can see, if submitting posts, there is an option field for email. That was meant to be for the anonymous users and later reminding people, on unanswered questions.
I will personally polish this piece of our feature off and hopefully get it launched. This small feature, might have alot of actual progress on the site, in the unanswered questions area. I have something in my mind already ;) So again, thank you for reminding me, that this needed some extra work.

And another to disconfirm questionable or controversial messages to punish errors
I find your idea very interesting, mostly because we have been planning something similar. We will look into that and try to come up with some better method for confirming in general. So its fair, fun and easy :) Again, thank you for the suggestion, much appreciated!

Accept lower resolution of pics/gifs. I wanted to post a question but my gif was something x 198px, while you can post no smaller than x 200px :D
I'm sorry, but I'm afraid, it cannot be lowered any more. Problem is, that our image-buffer-thingy would make smaller dimensions in so bad quality, that it would be hard to understand, what the image actually is.
However, the new submitter is at working stages for a while now. And I will look into, what is possible. Also on the newer NTP version, we must do something about GIF's collectively. Because, they are very outdated solution, take much space and load slow. So either we will split them up into frames or convert them into MP4, like 9gag. Nobody will see the difference, its just the output format, that needs to be changed.

I suggest doing away with getting points for confirms! People are getting a lot of points by confirming any and everything. They're confirming correct answers and wrong answers!
We are gonna definitely look into that, as it was a iffy from the start. But you have to understand, we had to come up with some solution to make life easier for the moderators. So I'm all ears, if anyone has some ideas, how to make things for automated, faster or/and easier -- for the moderators and users respecetvely.

Options are always a good thing especially when you can turn them on/off as you like.
I wanted to leave it like it is, for testing period to collect data. I will tweak it and include options, so who thinks this is fun can leave it on, and who gets annoyed by it, can somehow turn it down alot. PS: I will appreciate the feedback on our features, we try our hardest to make this sites user experience as good as possible :)
