If the name is new and not in the database—ie. not part of a previously answered question—then it won't become a link until there is at least one accepted answer with that name.
If you are using the square brackets, and the name is coming up bold, you are doing it exactly right. Once the answer gets accepted, or another post using the same name gets accepted, it will become a link.

All it takes is 1 confirm, but it most cases a Mod will still have to come by and accept the confirmed answer as correct.

Also am I the only one seeing double. Lately I've been seeing a couple of double post. An anonymous will post the same thing twice, is this some kind of glitch?
@ESM13 I usually google the photo, rick click and copy image url and paste it here to see if it's compatible with the site, if not I screen shot the video and I upload it to imgur, then from there I right click and copy the image url and paste it here to create a post, then I add the video link in the description.

Read the help section as anon said. You need to paste a URL that ends with an image into the box at the top of the site. So add ".gif" to your URL and paste it at the very top of the site.
