Lets make confirms work together as community!

Lets make confirms work together as community!

I propose the smartest minds in NTP to come together to come up with a algorithm, that would actually make automated confirm to accept happen!

I love this community, but moderators are slow and developers are overwhelmed with work to maintain and yet develop new systems.

If we would come up with some smart way to use available parameters to detect possible-good-quality-answers, then it would make getting answers accepted much easier and faster.

I think the best thing would be to make more moderators, who can do what the Ops do as for marking answers "Correct".

So, I would say that you need a way for a user to be promoted to Moderator, and a mechanism for people to flag/complain to the Operator and Moderator groups in case there is some cause for dispute against a Moderator.

You could allow Moderators to nominate other users to be Moderators, then the Operators would only need some small amount of time to check to see the history of the newly nominated Moderator to make sure this person looks like they know the Rules and what criteria to mark something Correct.

Give the Moderators points for marking correct. Maybe make a second point value. You want to make doing the moderation be worth the time.

I find myself not doing confirms very often, because I get way more points solving older 500+ point posts rather than getting 10 points for confirming.

I guess what I'm saying is the "points motivation" sometimes overrides the motivation to do what's best for the community. So having Moderators that don't have any motivation to do moderating is not useful, but also having a point motivation for that can lead to people using that power for point schemes rather than the intended purpose.

So, we need a check and balance. So way to see what each Moderator is doing, so that other Moderators can keep a check and make sure no funny business is going on.

The real purpose here is that, the Operators don't have the time to do these duties and also keep the code going. The logical thing is to get other people doing these duties, or at least the bulk of them, so that the Ops can spend minimum time and keep working on the code.

@bouya1 this exact system (little bit more complex and safety switches too, but exact basis) was in use and did not work as well. Because user's level doesn't mean anything, some of higher levels still don't know how to answer.

The helpful confirms count instead of levels makes more sense.

The best way i can think of, is to add the levels of the confirmers until an answer get to a threshold.

For exemple, if the automatic threshold is 100 and an answer has 4 confirms and the total his 68, then it would not be confirm.

But if the answer has 7 confirms and get a total of 106, it gets the automatic confirms.

Yes there's a chance that a bad answer gets accepted, but the majority of time i think i would get the right one.

I might also give the OP the possibility to reject an automatic confirmation.

Hit me up if you think it's a good idea... maybe i could came up with an algorithm or something

Everybody is all about bitching about confirms and accepts, but nobody actually wants to do anything about it.

Like we can use variables like:
- confirm count per answer
- conformer-user level or helpful confirms in the past count
- post views, favourites, upvotes
- comment flags, upvotes, downvotes and etc
- then maybe combine the levels or helpful confirms in the past count of the confirming user accounts?
- exclude bounty posts probably and featured ones
